Owner / Director
Ashley Ness is the owner and artistic director of Silhouette Dance Company, founded in 2009. She is a committed dance teacher, choreographer and performer that has a passion for sharing her love of dance to people of all ages.
Beginning her dance training at the age of 2, Ashley has been surrounded by dance her whole life. She trained under Michelle Davis for 12 years in tap, ballet, jazz and drill team. During her high school years, she was a member of the state and national champion Pure Gold Dance Team at Boswell High School. While there, she held the title of Junior Lieutenant and Captain of the team. As an officer she received irreplaceable experience as a choreographer for all team and officer routines and developed her skills as a leader. After high school, she went on to study at The University of North Texas in Denton. There, she was a student of the dance department studying ballet, jazz and modern dance. During her time in college she also worked at her home studio, Encore School of Dance, as an instructor to children ages 3-18. During this time as an instructor Ashley developed her love of teaching dance. In 2006, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a secondary education certification. After graduation, Ashley was awarded the position of drill team director for the Denton High School Fillies as well as a teaching position in the history department. She taught for two years and then decided she wanted to venture out on her own. In 2009, Silhouette Dance Company was formed to provide dance instruction as well as personal and custom attention to drill teams in the North Texas area. Ashley is also a certified teacher in the state of Texas in Social Studies 8-12 and Generalist EC-12. She enjoys working with children of all ages and has an extensive background in the public school system. Ashley loves spending time with her husband, Andy, who helps her with SDC, her two girls, Abigail and Ava and son, Cooper. She is excited to be expanding her business in Denton and Wise County and looks forward to many years of working with students and families of SDC!
Monica (Sherman) McCartney was born and raised in Abilene, Texas. After graduating from Wylie High School she graduated from Cisco College with her Associates Degree. She is currently a dance major at the University of North Texas where she is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts. She has grown up dancing under the instruction of Mary Milstead of Patty Harper Dance Studio in Abilene, Texas where she has also worked and taught for four years. She has performed and choreographed for multiple recitals and performs as a soloist for their annual Christmas show called Once Upon a Christmas Eve. Monica has also had opportunities dancing for Carnival Cruise, as well as Ripley Grier Studios and Broadway Dance Center in New York City. After graduating from UNT, she will pursue her Master of Arts at Texas Women’s University in pursuit of her dream to become a Dance Professor.
Emily Thomas was born in Fairfax, Virginia and moved to Wylie, Texas in 1999. She has been dancing for 10+ years. She began dancing on drill team in the 5th grade and continued drill team throughout junior high school and into high school. Her senior year of high school she was Captain for the Wylie Pirate Pacesetters. From there she went onto dance at Collin College where she was a part of their modern dance company for 3 years. While at Collin she had many opportunities to perform at the American College Dance Festival where her and her company were honored with many awards. She also choreographed for her company and those dances were performed on stage for their Spring concerts. Now she is currently a student at The University of North Texas where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance, a minor in Kinesiology, as well as her teaching certification. She is also performing/ soloing in a guest artist piece at UNT set on the students by Bill Evans, a world renowned choreographer and teacher. After graduation she plans on working for Disney World as a parade/show performer before she begins her teaching career as a drill team instructor.
Kaylee Finch started dancing at Frances Lea Dance Center at the age of 4. While under the instruction of Mrs. Lea, Kaylee was educated in a wide range of dance styles including, ballet, tap, jazz, clogging, contemporary and lyrical. During her time at Frances Lea, Kaylee took part in the competition team and was able to gain the confidence to become an instructor. In 2008, Kaylee decided to further her education at Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) starting in middle school and graduated in 2014. While at FWAFA, Kaylee was apart of the Dance Company, where she was able to perform in 3 winter shows and 3 ballets. In addition, in her three years with the company at FWAFA, Kaylee had the opportunity to co-direct a Student Choreography concert, set choreography, and attend the National High School Dance Festival in Miami, Florida. After graduating FWAFA, Kaylee started her college education at a local community college while helping her aunt start her own dance studio, C&C Academy of Dance. At C&C, Kaylee educated children from the ages of 3-17 and was also a choreographer for the competition teams. Kaylee is currently in her senior year at the University of North Texas, double majoring in Merchandising and Home Furnishings.
Emma Ricks is a Texas native and has been dancing for 15 years, starting at age three. She has been part of various companies and competition teams throughout DFW. Her favorite was Aftershock Dance Company with Epicenter for the arts. She has had many performance opportunities with Pink Impact, Dance Revolution, Gateway Church, Southlake Arts Festival and many more! She is very excited to start her second year with SDC and can’t wait to share her love of dance with her students!!
Isabella was born and raised in North Richland Hills, Texas. She grew up under the direction of Janet Schenk at Act One Dance Studio in Keller, Texas. There she joined their competitive team and remained a member for 12 years. She was trained in ballet, tap, jazz, clogging, contemporary, and hip hop. During her time there, she obtained awards and scholarships from the following companies, Rainbow Dance Competition, Stage One Dance Competition, Kar Dance Competition, Wild Dance Convention, ASH Dance Convention, and Hall of Fame Nationals Competition in Las Vegas. Following her graduation from Richland High School she had the opportunity to become an educator at Act One and continues to work there today. She is currently obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree in dance at the University of North Texas; she will be graduating this May. Isabella has performed with Buster Cooper in his annual National Tap Day Celebration, at UNT for their New Choreography Concert as a soloist, and at UNT for the Faculty Dance Concert. Upon graduation Isabella plans to continue educating young dancers. Eventually she would like to open her own studio or become a drill team director.
Hailey Regenbrecht is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance with a minor in theater at Texas Woman’s University. Hailey began her dance training at the age of three at Busby Dancenter in Victoria, Texas, studying ballet, pointe, jazz, tap and modern dance forms. She has also studied tap dance with Acia Gray and other masters of American Tap at Tapestry Dance Company and Third Coast Rhythm Project. Hailey was a member of the Victoria Ballet Theatre Company for eight years under the direction of Debbe Busby and Brenda Serrata Tally where she danced numerous lead roles in many different productions such as The Nutcracker, Cinderella, and Swan Lake. With the Victoria Ballet Theatre, she had the opportunity to choreograph two pieces for Company productions, to perform extensively, to receive additional training from numerous master teachers, and to perform many works of original choreography by notable professional choreographers from America and Mexico. Hailey also traveled with the Victoria Ballet Theatre Company to study and perform at Regional Dance America festivals six times, including the 2012 international RDA festival held in Montreal, Canada. Hailey has attended multiple summer dance intensives including the Joffrey Workshop Texas, Ballet Nouveau Colorado, Colorado Conservatory of Dance, Indiana University at Bloomington School of Modern Dance, and Oklahoma City Ballet Company, and Elisa Monte Dance Summer Series.
