Ashley Ness is the owner and artistic director of Silhouette Dance Company, founded in 2009.  She is a committed dance teacher, choreographer and performer that has a passion for sharing her love of dance to people of all ages.

Beginning her dance training at the age of 2, Ashley has been surrounded by dance her whole life. She trained under Michelle Davis for 12 years in tap, ballet, jazz and drill team. During her high school years, she was a member of the state and national champion Pure Gold Dance Team at Boswell High School. While there, she held the title of Junior Lieutenant and Captain of the team.  As an officer she received irreplaceable experience as a choreographer for all team and officer routines and developed her skills as a leader.  After high school, she went on to study at The University of North Texas in Denton. There, she was a student of the dance department studying ballet, jazz and modern dance. During her time in college she also worked at her home studio, Encore School of Dance, as an instructor to children ages 3-18.  During this time as an instructor Ashley developed her love of teaching dance. In 2006, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a secondary education certification. After graduation, Ashley was awarded the position of drill team director for the Denton High School Fillies as well as a teaching position in the history department. She taught for two years and then decided she wanted to venture out on her own.  In 2009, Silhouette Dance Company was formed to provide dance instruction as well as personal and custom attention to drill teams in the North Texas area. Ashley is also a certified teacher in the state of Texas in Social Studies 8-12 and Generalist EC-12.  She enjoys working with children of all ages and has an extensive background in the public school system. Ashley loves spending time with her husband, Andy, who helps her with SDC, her two girls, Abigail and Ava and son, Cooper. She is excited to be expanding her business in Denton and Wise County and looks forward to many years of working with students and families of SDC!

Carson Iffland

Assistant Studio Director / Company Director / Dance Instructor

Carson Iffland began dancing at the age of three in Longview, Texas where she was born and raised. She trained in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip-hop, and lyrical at The Dance Studio -Longview. Carson was taught primarily by Tena Vogel until she was eighteen years old. While in high school, Carson served as the Head Manager of the Pine Tree Precision Drill Team. After graduation she became a member of the 71st line of the World-Famous Kilgore College Rangerettes under the direction of Dana Blair and Shelley Wayne. With the Rangerettes, Carson experienced intense structure and training, which taught her many disciplines. During this time Carson was able to perform and choreograph for many different venues such as the 75th half time show of the Cotton Bowl, the 70th commemoration of the attack on Pearl Harbor in Honolulu Hawaii, The McDonalds Thanksgiving Day Parade in Chicago, and the very first annual Rangerette Christmas Extravaganza. Carson also performed in two Rangerette Revels and many football games and local Christmas parades. After Kilgore College, Carson studied Dance Education at Texas Woman’s University where she gained much knowledge about children in dance, choreography, and dance professionalism. While in school she taught at Silhouette Dance Company in Decatur, TX. She worked closely with Owner, Ashley Ness from 2013-2016. Carson got to witness and help with the opening of a studio, adding another location in Denton, TX., and moving locations in Decatur, as well as many “firsts” for SDC. She was so blessed to be a part of the SDC family from the beginning. Home called for Carson in 2016 and she moved back to Longview to be near family. While there, Carson worked at TDSL with her life-long teacher- Tena Vogel. She taught many classes such as jazz, tap, hip-hop, ballet in different levels, and had the pleasure of running a competition and performance team known as “Grace En Motion” (GEM). This experience gave her great confidence in a position of leadership and opened her eyes to many different facets of the dance world. Carson and her husband Logan moved to Corinth, TX. in September of 2019 and re-joined the SDC family as Assistant Director of Studios. Carson is excited to be back with her SDC family where is she has always enjoyed enlightening the minds of many students, young and old. This year, Carson also has the pleasure of being named Company Director, which is sure to be a challenging and rewarding endeavor. Carson is living out her life-long dream and passion of teaching dance!

Alyssa Toland

Alyssa Toland

Instructor / Mini & Jr. Spotlight Leader Decatur / Jazz Program Director

Alyssa Toland is originally from Longview, Texas. She began her training at the Elite Dance Center in Kilgore, Texas; performing extensively in jazz, modern, contemporary, hip hop, tap and ballet. Alyssa moved to Denton in 2015 to attend Texas Woman’s University (TWU), where she earned a B.A. in dance studies. She has had the privilege of working with artists like Christie Bondade, Andrea Mychaels Dance Project, and Big Rig Dance Collective. Those performances took place throughout the North Texas area including the Denton Black Film Festival, Dance Planet, and {254} Dance-Fest in Waco, TX. In addition to performing, she is currently choreographing multiple projects and working towards her M.A. focusing on dance education at TWU. 

Mexia Costa

Méxía graduated from Paris Junior College with Honors at 17 years old and deferred a year so she could continue to compete her would be last year of high school with SADC. She began her journey in dance just nine days after she turned 3, which makes this her 18th year dancing with 11 years competing. Méxía has danced in the Moscow Ballet’s Dallas performance of the Nutcracker. She started choreographing and winning with her own solos at the age of 12 along with winning several judges awards such as: Love of Dance, Longest Legs, Best Costume & Outstanding Team Member. Méxía has been recognized as an Elite Top Stars where she’s been invited to perform her solos at Nationals, Macy’s Day Parade, Capitol One Bowl in Orlando, SMU Football Extravaganza in Highland Park, invitation to dance in Radio City with the Rockettes and Hollywood Dance Invitational where she was blessed to take from Millennium Dance Complex in Hollywood. Méxía has been consistently in the Top 5 Overall Lineup with taking Overall 1st place multiple times. She has taken Master classes and workshops from Shane Sparks, Keith Clifton, Nick Drago, Grant Chenok, Denise Wall, Jackie Sleight, Nick Geurts as well as other well known choreographers. Méxía will continue her extended dance education by attending different dance conventions and workshops throughout her lifetime of dance. Ms. Méxía started as a Student Teacher at the age of 10 and an actual Teacher by the age of 14. Not only has she taught regular dance classes, she has also taught private classes and choreographed Competition Dances that were award winning. She is an UNT 2020 Honors graduate from Denton.
Jazmin Pettit

Jazmin Pettit

Jazmin Pettit was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Pettit graduated from Red Oak High School where she served as the Senior Lieutenant for the Red Oak High School Hawkettes. Pettit has trained extensively at Lancaster Dance Academy, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, the Ozsoy School of Ballet, and she recently graduated with a BA in dance studies with a minor in business from Texas Woman’s University. She has also attended Debbie Allen Dance Academy’s summer intensives where she had the opportunity to meet Debbie Allen herself. She was awarded Miss Showtime at Showtime International Dance Camp, and has performed in the televised Adolphus Parade. She is well-versed in ballet, jazz, modern, pointe, contemporary, and African. Some of Pettit’s performance credits include TWU’s Dance UpClose and DanceMakers Concert Series, MFA Culminating Project Concerts, Brave Arts Dance Festival, American College Dance Association Festival, the Wild Women for the Arts, and Eastfield Dance Faculty Concert. She presented “Revelation 21:4” (2018) at TWU Dance UpClose concert which explores the five stages of grief which was chosen by faculty and student peers for a show. She is currently working towards her Masters in Business Administration at TWU. After college, she plans to perform professionally and later on open up her own dance academy.
Jessica Jeske

Jessica Jeske grew up in Rockwall, Texas where she began dancing at the age of 3 for Dance Force Studio. She continued with the studio joining their competitive company team in middle school. She served as 1st Lieutenant on her middle school drill team and then served as Lieutenant on the Rockwall Heath High Steppers Drill Team. She began teaching dance classes at the age of 14 for her studio. She has continued her love of dance after graduation working for Showtime International judging at dance competitions & teaching summer drill team camps throughout Texas. She graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station with a degree in education. While at A&M she continued taking dance classes at the university as well as teaching classes at Suzannes School of Dance. Upon graduation Jessica moved back to the DFW area to teach. She began an after school dance program for girls at the elementary school she taught at where she was able choreograph, teach technique & work collaboratively with the Texas Ballet Theatre to provide ballet intensive classes for her girls. This past year Jessica & her husband Brent moved to the Decatur area where she taught for Decatur ISD. Jessica’s philosophy for dance is that everyone is a dancer at heart whether it’s in the studio, in the car or in their bedroom at home with the door closed. Her passion is to help young dancers find joy & confidence through dance.

Lexie Kieschnick

Lexie Kieschnick is originally from Fort Worth where she attended Boswell High School. There she joined the Pure Gold Dance Team and served as lieutenant her junior year and her senior year became the leading officer.  During this time she also taught and choreographed for the middle school dance class. After graduating she went on to become a Kilgore College Rangerette and earned her Associate of Arts and Associate of Science Degrees. As a member of Rangerettes she had several performance opportunities such as performing for the NFL and the Cotton Bowl halftimes. She also participated in international dance and music festivals in Europe. This past summer, after graduating, she had the opportunity to work and choreograph for Dance Giddings’ summer camps. She is currently attending Texas Woman’s University and pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition.  
Sheena Roberts

Sheena Roberts and her husband, Jason, have 3 children; Ryan, Annabelle, and Justin. She was born and raised in Denison, Texas and recently moved to Decatur in 2018. Sheena began dancing at the age of 5 with Crazy Rhythm Dance Studio as an exclusive clogger. She quickly found her love for lyrical, ballet, jazz, and tap as she got older and found her rhythm. Sheena began competing with the Step In Time competition team in the Dallas/Fort Worth area throughout her middle school and high school years. She began teaching at age 15 with the Tiny Tots and Creative Movement classes at her studio. In high school, she performed with the DHS Stingerettes and served as Junior Lieutenant and Captain. The team had the opportunity to perform in the Orangebowl Parade, Cottonbowl Parade, and the Cottonbowl Halftime Show as Sheena served on the leadership team. Upon graduation, Sheena opened a small dance studio in her home town as she studied elementary education and cosmetology with Grayson County College. Sheena owned and operated her studio from 2002-2008, then taught with Dancendy Dance Center from 2009 until 2011. She continued to work with children teaching an after-school program with St. Luke’s Private School until 2017 where she taught ballet, tap, tumbling and children’s worship. This is Sheena’s first year with Silhouette Dance Company and she is so excited to be back in the studio to share her passion and love for dance.

Florence Quick

Florence Quick was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas where she began dancing at the age of four at Earle Cobb Dance Studio. She witnessed her older sister’s love for dance and was eager to take the stage. Florence competed for two years on their company, Dena’s Dazzlers, while in middle school. Entering high school, she became a member of both the Brandeis Ballet Company and the Lariettes Varsity Dance Team where she choreographed and taught numerous routines. Her senior year she served as Colonel and led her team to their first national competition. Before graduating she performed on the Silver Dancers Teen Elite squad and danced during time-outs at San Antonio Spurs home games. Florence is currently a second-year member of the North Texas Dancers and pursuing her bachelor’s in Finance and Marketing at The University of North Texas. 

Ashley Benson

Ashley Benson was born and raised in Clermont, Florida where She started dancing at the age of 3.  She then started to dance competitively at the age of 8 and continued through her senior year of High school.  Ashley has trained in many genres of dance including Ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, improvisation, Ballroom, Hip Hop and Tap.  Ashley moved to Frisco Texas her sophomore year of high school where she completed her competitive dance training at Next Step Dance Studio.

Through the years Has attended many national dance competitions including Starpower, KAR and Revive where she was chosen at a regional competition to dance in the crew for Nationals in Las Vegas her Senior year of high school.  Ashley has attended several Joffrey Ballet summer intensives while living in Florida.  Ashley and her friends also submitted a dance video in 2015 for the Good Morning America show Contest sponsoring Taylor Swifts new Album 1989.  There where over 950 videos entered for this contest and Ashley and her friends won and where flown to New York City met with Taylor Swift and danced in her opening act in Time Square. 

Ashley is a Junior currently attending TWU where she is Majoring in Dance Education because she wants to continue her love of dance by coaching for a High school or University dance team when she graduates.

Ashley was also a member of the TWU Pioneer Pride dance team her Sophomore year where she danced at many games performing sideline routines and intermission dance numbers.

Isabella Parish was raised in Frisco, Texas where she danced at Sheena’s Dance Academy for thirteen years. She started performing with Sheena’s Dance Academy’s Competition Company at the age of 8 and stayed on the company for ten years. She had the opportunity to perform The Nutcracker with The Frisco Ballet for four years. As she entered high school, she joined her high school’s drill team, The Red Rhythm Dance Team. Her junior year, she was Junior Lieutenant and her senior year, she was First Lieutenant. Along with drill team in high school, she had the privilege of being a part of the marching band and ride horses during her free time. Isabella is currently attending the University of North Texas where she is a 3rd year Nationals Captain on the North Texas Dancers and majoring in dance with a business minor. She performs on the sidelines at UNT football and basketball games, and travels to Daytona, Florida to compete in NDA College Nationals. After college, she hopes to become a drill team director.
Zoe Sherman

Zoe Sherman was raised in Decatur, Texas. Zoe began dancing when she was three years old. She began taking classes at Silhouette Dance Company her Junior year of High School when they opened their Decatur location. Her Senior year she was a member of the Silhouette Shadow Dancer Competition Team. After graduation she attended Texas A&M University where she was involved with Liberal Arts Student Council, Aggie Transition Camps, and Undergraduate Student Research. In May 2020 she graduated with a B.A. in English. She is thrilled to be returning to Silhouette Dance Company as a staff member!
