Ashley Ness is the owner and artistic director of Silhouette Dance Company, founded in 2009.  She is a committed dance teacher, choreographer and performer that has a passion for sharing her love of dance to people of all ages.

Beginning her dance training at the age of 2, Ashley has been surrounded by dance her whole life. She trained under Michelle Davis for 12 years in tap, ballet, jazz and drill team. During her high school years, she was a member of the state and national champion Pure Gold Dance Team at Boswell High School. While there, she held the title of Junior Lieutenant and Captain of the team.  As an officer she received irreplaceable experience as a choreographer for all team and officer routines and developed her skills as a leader.  After high school, she went on to study at The University of North Texas in Denton. There, she was a student of the dance department studying ballet, jazz and modern dance. During her time in college she also worked at her home studio, Encore School of Dance, as an instructor to children ages 3-18.  During this time as an instructor Ashley developed her love of teaching dance. In 2006, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a secondary education certification. After graduation, Ashley was awarded the position of drill team director for the Denton High School Fillies as well as a teaching position in the history department. She taught for two years and then decided she wanted to venture out on her own.  In 2009, Silhouette Dance Company was formed to provide dance instruction as well as personal and custom attention to drill teams in the North Texas area. Ashley is also a certified teacher in the state of Texas in Social Studies 8-12 and Generalist EC-12.  She enjoys working with children of all ages and has an extensive background in the public school system. Ashley loves spending time with her husband, Andy, who helps her with SDC, her two girls, Abigail and Ava and son, Cooper. She is excited to be expanding her business in Denton and Wise County and looks forward to many years of working with students and families of SDC!

Abbie Stackhouse

Abbie Stackhouse was born and raised in Corsicana, Texas. While in high school Abbie developed a love for dance while participating in competitive dance at a local studio and as  Captain of the High School Drill team. A highlight was performing at the Orange Bowl in 2008 with the Corsicana Calicos Officers. She attended college at UNT in Denton, TX and graduated with her BS in Development and Family Studies. Abbie has held positions in social work, ministry assistant and Personal Assistant for the CEO at Barnabas Agency. Abbie married David Stackhouse in 2010 and they now have two beautiful daughters, Kinsey Lynn 3 ½ and Weslie Marie 1 1/2 . Abbie loves being a wife and mother, they enjoy play time as a family outdoors, lake days, and family dance parties. Abbie is excited to work in the dance studio environment and hopes to be a encouragement to the dance students, families and instructors.

Emily Thomas

Emily Thomas was born in Fairfax, Virginia and moved to Wylie, Texas in 1999. She has been dancing for 10+ years. She began dancing on drill team in the 5th grade and continued drill team throughout junior high school and into high school. Her senior year of high school she was Captain for the Wylie Pirate Pacesetters. From there she went onto dance at Collin College where she was a part of their modern dance company for 3 years. While at Collin she had many opportunities to perform at the American College Dance Festival where her and her company were honored with many awards. She also choreographed for her company and those dances were performed on stage for their Spring concerts. Now she is currently a student at The University of North Texas where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance, a minor in Kinesiology, as well as her teaching certification. She is also performing/ soloing in a guest artist piece at UNT set on the students by Bill Evans, a world renowned choreographer and teacher. After graduation she plans on working for Disney World as a parade/show performer before she begins her teaching career as a drill team instructor.

Kaylee Finch

Kaylee Finch started dancing at Frances Lea Dance Center at the age of 4. While under the instruction of Mrs. Lea, Kaylee was educated in a wide range of dance styles including, ballet, tap, jazz, clogging, contemporary and lyrical. During her time at Frances Lea, Kaylee took part in the competition team and was able to gain the confidence to become an instructor. In 2008, Kaylee decided to further her education at Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) starting in middle school and graduated in 2014. While at FWAFA, Kaylee was apart of the Dance Company, where she was able to perform in 3 winter shows and 3 ballets. In addition, in her three years with the company at FWAFA, Kaylee had the opportunity to co-direct a Student Choreography concert, set choreography, and attend the National High School Dance Festival in Miami, Florida. After graduating FWAFA, Kaylee started her college education at a local community college while helping her aunt start her own dance studio, C&C Academy of Dance. At C&C, Kaylee educated children from the ages of 3-17 and was also a choreographer for the competition teams. Kaylee is currently in her senior year at the University of North Texas, double majoring in Merchandising and Home Furnishings.

Emma Ricks

Emma Ricks is a Texas native and has been dancing for 15 years, starting at age three. She has been part of various companies and competition teams throughout DFW. Her favorite was Aftershock Dance Company with Epicenter for the arts. She has had many performance opportunities with Pink Impact, Dance Revolution, Gateway Church, Southlake Arts Festival and many more! She is very excited to start her second year with SDC and can’t wait to share her love of dance with her students!!

Lisa Herrin

Lisa Herrin was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She began dance at age 8, gaining experience from both studio classes and drill team as she grew up. She served as a Junior and Senior Lieutenant for the Westwood SunDancers. After her freshman year at Austin Community College, during which she gained experience teaching studio classes, Lisa transferred to Texas Woman’s University where she is working to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a minor in Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Upon graduation, Lisa will work towards continuing into a professional career of dancing, choreographing, and learning more about the world around her. Lisa is interested in a dancer’s ability to express herself through movement to an audience as well as the creative process involved in generating movement that utilizes the collaboration between choreographers and performers.

Alyssa Toland

Alyssa Toland is originally from Longview, Texas. She began her training at the Elite Dance Center in Kilgore, Texas; performing extensively in jazz, modern, contemporary, hip hop, tap and ballet. Alyssa continued her education at Kilgore College, graduating with an Associate of Arts Degree. She then transferred to Texas Woman’s University and earned a B.A. in dance studies. Alyssa has had the privilege of working with artists like Christie Bondade, Andrea Mychaels Dance Project, and Big Rig Dance Collective. Those performances took place throughout the North Texas area including the Denton Black Film Festival, Dance Planet, and {254} Dance-Fest in Waco, TX. In addition to performing, she is currently choreographing multiple projects and working towards her M.A. focusing on dance education.

Monica McCartney

Monica (Sherman) McCartney was born and raised in Abilene, Texas. After graduating from Wylie High School she graduated from Cisco College with her Associates Degree. She is currently a dance major at the University of North Texas where she is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts. She has grown up dancing under the instruction of Mary Milstead of Patty Harper Dance Studio in Abilene, Texas where she has also worked and taught for four years. She has performed and choreographed for multiple recitals and performs as a soloist for their annual Christmas show called Once Upon a Christmas Eve. Monica has also had opportunities dancing for Carnival Cruise, as well as Ripley Grier Studios and Broadway Dance Center in New York City. After graduating from UNT, she will pursue her Master of Arts at Texas Women’s University in pursuit of her dream to become a Dance Professor.

Isabella Parish was raised in Frisco, Texas where she danced at Sheena’s Dance Academy for thirteen years. She started performing with Sheena’s Dance Academy’s Competition Company at the age of 8 and stayed on the company for ten years. She had the opportunity to perform The Nutcracker with The Frisco Ballet for four years. As she entered high school, she joined her high school’s drill team, The Red Rhythm Dance Team. Her junior year, she was Junior Lieutenant and her senior year, she was First Lieutenant. Along with drill team in high school, she had the privilege of being a part of the marching band and ride horses during her free time. Isabella is currently attending the University of North Texas where she is a 2nd year veteran on the North Texas Dancers and majoring in dance with a business minor. She performs on the sidelines at UNT football and basketball games, and travels to Daytona, Florida to compete in NDA College Nationals. After college, she hopes to become a drill team director.
